Why are women prone to gum recession?
Women are said to be susceptible to many diseases because of this hormonal changes in their body. Despite the many changes in our body, we must only focus on one area in maintaining healthy lifestyle. We should also consider our oral hygiene. Gum problems usually arise when our immune system is weak. An example of an oral health problem is receding gums. Receding gums happens when we careless of our teeth. We brush our teeth irregularly because this type of gum problem develops when bacteria has build up in our mouth. Many believe that women and receding gums are interconnected during the three stages that women encounter.
These three stages women undergo in life are the following: teenage puberty, pregnancy and menopausal stages. These periods in the woman’s life greatly affect how she deals with her daily activities due to hormonal changes in her body. Men would often say they find it hard to understand women because of their mood swings.
Teenage puberty is the stage in which girls and boys have rapid physical change. At the same time, their interest shifts for girls: dolls and play houses to boys and make ups while for boys: cars and toy guns to girls and sports. These changes are normal for growing teens. The most noticeable change is physical appearance. Pimples will begin to resurface because of oily skin. Another physical change is bad odour, because of the development of the human body as we grow mature we sweet a lot that releases odour. If this is not treated at an early stage, there is a possibility that friends will slowly leave you. The major physical change in a girl’s body is the menstruation period. This period is when a girl will be called a woman. Once a girl has her regular period, she is cable of giving birth. Boys will have voice change and they will become taller than the usual.
Pregnancy is a stage where a woman carries an unborn baby in her womb for nine months. The changes in her body can affect her mood swings. Pregnant women get easily irritated or impatient with what is happening around them. Lastly menopausal stage is where a woman loses her monthly period. This usually happen to women 35 and above where women loses her monthly period.
In order to prevent receding gums, it is recommended that women at an early stage in life, teenage puberty should regularly visit their dentist. Setting a habitual appointment with your dentist can lessen the possibility of surgery to treat receding gums.
